Bankrupt Greece is getting a €35 million rebate from the EU.
The money is claimed to be a repayment of EU fines paid by Greece in 2005 over irregularities in EU payments to Greek arable, livestock and fruit farmers.
At the same time the EU has fined Britain €30 million for "inadequate enforcement of EU environmental rules for farmers", known as cross-compliance. The Netherlands was also fined €15 million for similar reasons.
This sounds suspiciously like robbing Peter to pay Petros.
